The Living Heart
Published in Hardcover by David McKay Co (June, 1977)
Author: Michael Ellis, Debakey
Average review score:

Excellent book for everyone ....
This review is for the book: Living Heart Diet
by Dr. William Debakey, et al.

This is an excellent book for those who have had heart problems and for those who do not want to develop heart problems. Poor diet (high fat/cholesterol) is one of the main risk factors for heart disease -- excess cholesterol lays a foundation of plaque in your arteries that can eventually cause heart attacks and/or necessitate heart surgery. This book was developed to help us all eat right and help avoide disease. This book contains recipes, education about heart disease, and nutrition and sodium tables for most of the foods you eat. This is an excellent resource! Use it in good health!

Most complete book on the subject.
I'm a diabetic and recently had a quadruple bypass. After being introduced to this book, I devoured it and now live it.

Lone Star and the Buffalo Hunters (Lone Star, No 35)
Published in Paperback by Jove Pubns (July, 1985)
Author: Wesley Ellis
Average review score:

A Excellent Western Series
If you are a fan of western books, i strongly recommend that you find and read any of the Lone Star series. Every book is packed with loads of action ranging from gun fights to martial arts duels. Jessica Starbuck is awesome, and Ki if was real would be one of the best martial artists in the world today.

The sexiest, bloodiest Lone Star yet!
Okay adult western fans, this ones got it all! From martial arts and shoot-outs, to rape and down right sex! Jessie and Ki find themselves mixed up with some rough types when they cross paths with a group of Buffalo Hunters. I've read all but about five of this series, and let me tell you, of the hundred plus written, Buffalo Hunters is one of, if not THE best yet.

Lonely Planet New York, New Jersey and Pennsyvania (Serial)

Authors: Tom Smallman, Michael Clark, Eric Wakin, and David M. Ellis
Average review score:

A fantastic guide -- tourists and locals alike will enjoy.
What a wonderful tool this little book is. This LP guide to the midatlantic states provides information that both a foreign tourist coming to the area for the first time and a local searching for a new experience will find useful. In addition to being chock full of information the text is illuminating and humorous reading as well.

Brilliant & helpful
Of all the guidebooks I've read, I've found this guide to be the most helpful, well setout, motivating book yet. I've been in New York for 1 month now and I have found the book invaluable. I especially like the sections on transport. It offers choices not just a statement of what you need to do. Also, the way the attractions are all logically set out by areas is helpful in trying to plan your days and getting the most out of them. I will be in New york for the next 11 months and I'm sure I will continue to use my 'bible of New York' till I leave. Well done Lonely planet

Maingot's Abdominal Operations, Vols. I and II
Published in Hardcover by McGraw-Hill Professional (16 December, 1996)
Authors: Michael J. Zinner, Seymour I. Schwartz, Harold Ellis, Micheal J. Zinner, and Rodney Maingot
Average review score:

excellent, thorough, comprehensive
One of the most valuable texts any general surgeon specially the postgrads must have. each chapter is heavily loaded with very good graphics, and the text is very easy to grasp. and it gives a large space to operative details and steps. personally i take one of the volumes with me on duties. The only thing is that it is increasing necessary for the authors to update this edition. laproscopy in many situations is still -on the pages of this edition- in the cradle!!, which is not the true case, and many indications for some investigations have changed. but after all this is medicine. if you have this text and keepon with Advances in Surgery or Surgical Clinics of North America then you would cover most of the defects.

review abdominal operations
Excellent text for abdominal operations, easy to read with clear illustrations, reviews procedures that established the foundation of surgery, nice sections on ulcer operations, highly recomended.

The Making of the New Testament Documents
Published in Paperback by Brill Academic Publishers (July, 2002)
Author: E. Earle Ellis
Average review score:

A Great intelectual feast
Dr. Ellis sets forth criteria for "Pre formed traditions" and examines the NT letters for evidence of these. Coupled with his corporate view of writing scripture, this is powerful evidence against the liberal view of the scriptures. In his JETS journal article, Dr. Ellis writes that the Jesus Seminar is still in the trap of veiwing Jesus through presuppostions and end up with a "Jesus who is a politically correct American university professor." The historical method and it s outwrokings in this book should and will shake the liberal Humean anti miracle presuppositions about the NT. Great buy, better read.

Outstanding
Dr. Ellis, research professor of Theology at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, is outstanding in this volume. He has brought more credit back to American theologians. He is well respected in Europe (mostly Germany where he studied) as well he should be. This work is the total sum of important background as to the formation (author, date, recipients, and purpose) of ALL of the New Testament Books. A must for any pastor, preacher, teacher, or general student of the Bible. A word of warning, this is not for the casual reader of the Bible. Have a background in formal theological education (such as Greek, Hebrew, Theology, etc. . .) or have a very good ability to look up words in a dictionary. This book is nothing less than stupendous. If you care at all about academic study of the Word, this book is cheap! You must buy it. Sell any books you have to get it! Also, buy his book "Christ and the Future" it is less money, barely, but a good buy too!

Master of Orion II: Battle at Antares the Official Strategy Guide. (Secrets of the Games Series.)
Published in Paperback by Prima Publishing (November, 1996)
Authors: John Possidente, David Ellis, and Dave Ellis
Average review score:

Extremely helpful!
This guide (which I found at a half-price bookstore) is very helpful. I use it often. My copy of MOO II did not include a printed manual, so I wanted a some sort of hard copy. There are a few minor mistakes in the printing, but is a great guide!

The most useful strategy guide I've read.
Master of Orion II: Battle at Antares is a very difficult strategy game intent on making the colonization of the galaxy as realistic as possible. The Strategy Guide assists you in doing just that.

The main force of influence in the Strategy Guide is the explanation of every little bitty thing inside of the game. The technologies for Research are completely explained in detail, in addition to suggestions being given for what to choose and at what time to choose them. The alien "Picks" option that allows you to customize aliens is completely explained and suggestions for alien creation are put forth. However, the writers have a bent for challenging themselves, which I highly suggest to veteran players of the game.

All in all, it explains the entire campaign necessary to bring down those pesky Antarans and how to best keep a Space Eel from spawning. Give it a peek sometime. You won't be disappointed.

Moonlight and Mistletoe (Arabesque)
Published in Paperback by Pinnacle Books (December, 1997)
Authors: Bridget Anderson, Candice Poarch, and Adrienne Ellis Reeves
Average review score:

All Three Stories Were Excellent
I thought Moonlight & Mistletoe was an excellent read. Keepsake by Ms. Reeves was a wonderful story about Gary and Kim. Gary who was much older than Kimberly. But, he proved to be just what she needed. It was a tender story that kept you turning the pages. Next was Imani by Ms. Anderson. I think this was my favorite. It spoke about abuse and healing. A city girl found just what she needed in a small town. Her boyfriend was a jerk in the biggest sense of the word. It didn't know what I don't want to see you anymore meant. Lastly New Year, New Beginning by Ms. Poarch. It thought this story was really good also. A woman found herself in love with her deceased husband's best friend. She found that her life could go on. All the stories were beautiful. It you have not read this wonderful book, I suggest you do.

Warm and fuzzy holiday stories
"Moonlight and Mistletoe" is Arabesque's 1997 year-end holiday collection. There is something for everyone: a Christmas, a Kwanzaa and a New Year's story. The collection holds together very well. The writers and their works are evenly matched. Adrienne Ellis Reeves' Christmas story, "Keepsake," is a sweet story. But Reeves' fans have come to expect that from her. As in her novels, "Change of Heart" and "Heaven Knows," this story has all of the full-bodied warmth of romance and love without all the steam. Reeves dislikes loose ends. Characters from other works who don't quite live happily ever after are not forgotten. They get their own stories. "Keepsake" is the story of divorced father Gary Raeford whom we met in "Heaven Knows." He has moved past his attraction to Glennette Percy in that novel to pursue the widow, Kimberly Williams. "Imani" is Bridget Anderson's Kwanzaa story. Can a girl from Atlanta--with an unfulfilling job and an abusive, philandering ex-boyfriend--find happiness in a small town with a sensitive hunk? Just watch her! "A New Year, A New Beginning" is the tender story of love among the 40-somethings, a rarity among romance novels. Candice Poarch has crafted a funny, grown-up story about a widow and her husband's best friend and business partner. This is not "old folks at home." It's a mature story about timeless love, realization, priorities and new beginnings.

Moonstruck in Manhattan (Unmistakably Cooper Ellis No. 2)
Published in Paperback by Bethany House (July, 1998)
Author: Wendy Lee Nentwig
Average review score:

Unmistakably Exciting!
If you've read any other Cooper Ellis books, you'll be familiar with Wendy Lee Nentwig's incredible talent for writing. Cooper and her friends Alex and Claire are back, along with Josh, Cooper's boyfriend hopeful. While Josh seems, at times, genuinely interested in Cooper, why does he appear to continually be hiding something from Cooper and mysteriously running off somewhere else? And then there's the pretty little redhead Reagan Josh keeps showing up with, even though he's just asked Cooper to the spring dance. At the same time, Cooper's modelling career is flourishing, with getting a job with a hot new photographer. But though his work is very professional, Cooper's just not comfortable around him. Meanwhile, between Cooper's modelling and her struggle to define her relationship with Josh, her friendships with Alex and Claire seem to quickly be drifting away. In this funny episode with Cooper, you'll experience a lot of laughs and a few times of seriousness and contemplation. It's easy to get into this book and hard to put down! Believe me, it doesn't take long before you feel like you're right there. If you liked Cooper before, you'll love her now. Check out Moonstruck in Manhattan!

page-turner
i'm a picky reader but i couldn't put this book down. when i read a book i like to relate to it and this book i could totally relate to. i highly recommend you read this book.

My Secret Admirer
Published in Paperback by Scholastic (December, 1989)
Author: Carol Ellis
Average review score:

Is Jenny's Secret Admirer Trying to Kill Her?
Sixteen-year-old Jenny Fowler has just moved to Rimrock with her parents, but she's soon on her own when her parents leave town for a couple weeks on business. In the meantime, Jenny has no problem making new friends and is invited on a scavenger hunt with a few other high school students. However, the event turns near-fatal when one of the teens falls off a cliff and ends up in a coma. Jenny can't believe it was accident, although everyone claims it was; she clearly remembers hearing an argument followed by a scream. Yet when she admits to hearing something, her friends are either skeptical or suspicious. She doesn't know which is worse: not having anyone believe her, or having everyone believe she pushed the girl off the ledge?

The incident is then complicated when Jenny starts receiving anonymous phone calls from a secret admirer, while at the same time, being harassed by someone else who wants her dead. Will she ever discover who either stranger is before the threats escalate to murder?

If you're a fan of Point thrillers, then you should definitely read this one. Recommended for ages 12 and up.

One of the best books I have ever read
This is truly an outstanding book. I never read, and once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down. It is about a new girl in town, that has a secret admirer, but she also has just the opposite. Someone who is after her trying to scare her off. She is alone in her house for the weekend. Will she make it?
